SAU's clinical partner network: what the 2026 wording covers

01What the line actually says

The wording is brief. The six pages say SAU "works with you to secure clinical placements that match your preferred location." They add "access to our clinical partner network" and mention "extensive support, training" alongside it.

Read closely, each phrase describes help rather than an assignment. "Works with you" keeps you inside the search. "Preferred location" fits the FAQ's home-state model. "Access to" a network says you can draw on it, not that it will turn up a preceptor for every student in every town.

That reading matters because SAU's FAQ, on the same website, keeps its home-state line: "You will choose your own preceptor in your home state." Both lines are live on SAU's site today, and no SAU page explains how they fit together.

02Which tracks carry it

Only FNP and PMHNP pages carry the line, across every entry route those two tracks offer. The table reflects SAU's pages as checked in September 2026.

Nothing on SAU's site explains why the line stops there. It may reflect where SAU has built relationships, or simply which pages were rewritten first; SAU does not say. What it does mean is that students on the other tracks should not assume the same help exists for them until someone at SAU confirms it. The DNP and RN-to-BSN pages do not mention it either. If your track is marked no, the resources on finding your own preceptor are what SAU publishes for you, and they are worth asking about by name.

03When the wording appeared

The line is new, and it arrived one page at a time. Internet Archive copies show it missing from the MSN PMHNP page on February 8, 2026 and present by May 14, 2026. It was still absent from the MSN FNP page on June 10, 2026 and from the post-master's FNP page on July 16, 2026. By late September 2026 it was live on all six.

So a classmate who enrolled in 2025 may never have seen it, and the 2023-24 Graduate Catalog, the last full graduate catalog that could be read, does not mention it. The current catalogs sit behind a human check and could not be read, so they may now describe the network in more detail. Ask your program rather than assume either way.

04What the wording leaves out

Nothing SAU publishes explains how the network operates. That does not mean it is thin; it means the details have not been put in writing where students can read them.

Not stated on any SAU page checked

• Who the partners are, or how many there are.
• Which states or cities the network reaches.
• How a student requests a partner site, and whom to ask.
• What the "training" involves, or who receives it.
• Whether partner sites still need the forms you would send for any other site.
• What SAU offers next if the network has nothing near you.

Under SAU's published rule, the preceptor and site for every rotation need faculty approval, and nothing suggests partner sites skip that step. The preceptor approval page explains what faculty look at.

05Questions to put to SAU

On an FNP or PMHNP track, raise it well before your first practicum and keep whatever SAU sends back. Your program director or the assistant director for your track is the natural first contact, and the Student Success Coach can point you to the right person. Who to ask at SAU sorts out the titles.

Use SAU email for the question so the answer lives somewhere you can find it again. These are the questions that settle the most:

• Is the partner network open to my entry route and my cohort?
• Does it reach my state, and the distance I can realistically travel?
• How far ahead of my first practicum course should I ask?
• Do I still send the clinical agreement, affiliation and preceptor verification forms myself?
• If nothing in the network is near me, what does SAU do next?

06Using the network alongside your own search

Treat the network as one source of leads, not the only one. Keep your own search running until a preceptor is approved, because a partner site that falls through late leaves you where you began, minus the weeks. The four-week paperwork floor in the 2023-24 catalog does not shift because a lead came from SAU.
